Can IgA Nephropathy Be Healed2013-10-26 11:22
Can IgA Nephropathy be healed? IgA Nephropathy is a common Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) which is said to be life-threatening when develops to advanced stage. Therefore, once being diagnosed with IgA Nephropathy, many patients will have the doubt whether IgA Nephropathy can be healed or not. As for this question, I’d like to give a detailed explanation in the followings.
What is IgA Nephropathy?
IgA Nephropathy is an illness in which kidney tissues are damaged due to severe inflammation. It is a kidney problem that is related with immune system. In normal condition, our immune system is strong enough to help us fight against harmful substances. However, when it becomes abnormal or when immunity is impaired for some reasons, harmful substances invade our body. Under such a condition, IgA immune complexes are formed easily. These immune complexes circulate with blood and they are the direct cause of inflammation in kidney. Therefore, in medicine, treatment for IgA Nephropathy should start from treating immune disorder and only when abnormal immune system is normalized, can IgA Nephropathy be healed successfully.
How does IgA Nephropathy affect us?
IgA Nephropathy is a kidney disease caused by immune disorder. When we fail to treat immune problem, kidney damages become more and more serious because of the uncontrolled inflammation. As time goes by, when residual kidney function is too poor to maintain the normal life, various clinical manifestations like blood urine, protein urine and high blood pressure occur. Besides, kidney is responsible for filtering blood and excreting wastes in blood. When kidney function is affected severely, toxins build up in blood. In such a case, other internal organs are affected easily. This is the reason why IgA Nephropathy is deadly when it develops to advanced stage.
Can IgA Nephropathy be healed?
For people with IgA Nephropathy in initial stage, they can live as long as others and this is because IgA Nephropathy can be healed in early stage. However, in many cases, patients do not realize they have kidney problem until their IgA Nephropathy develop to a very severe stage. In that case, kidneys have been damaged mildly or severely. Under such a condition, it is possible for us to repair injured kidney intrinsic cells, but unfortunately, there is no such a way that can help to revive dead kidney cells. For this reason, IgA Nephropathy can not be healed. Also, this helps to explain why we always emphasize early diagnosis and early treatment.
Lastly, IgA Nephropathy in late stage can not be healed, but kidney condition can be improved effectively with right treatment. Therefore, finding a suitable treatment is very important for patients with uncontrolled IgA Nephropathy.
