My father age 75years, he is undergoing dialysis with creatinine level 4.5. please suggest is dialysis helpful ? In fact, we cannot say how many dialysis should the patient take before we know his condition clear. When the doctor arrange the dialysis plan, they will make it according to the patient’s age, weight, creatinine level and so many other factors. That is to say how many dialysis should the patient take is depending on their own condition.
What is dialysis ?
Dialysis is a treatment which outsources the functions of failed kidneys. It is often needed when one develops ESRD (End-stage Renal Disease) and by the time, one has already lost 85 to 90 percent of kidney function. The therapy is able to keep your body in balance since your own damaged kidneys couldn’t do their job well:
Remove wastes, toxins and extra water from blood
Regulate electrolytes
Keep blood pressure in check
Secrete certain steroids
Other than the last function that dialysis couldn’t achieve, the rests can be done well.
Can dialysis help kidney patient with high creatinine level live better ?
Actually, yes, if the patients can get adequate dialysis but they also will suffer some complications bring by this treatment. And if people can not get adequate dialysis, they may suffer more complications. That is one of the reasons why kidney disease patient want to avoid or get rid of dialysis.
