1. Low-salt intake

If IgA Nephropathy patients have obvious edema, they should control their salt intake so as not to aggravate the condition of edema. If patients have slight or no symptom of edema, they should low-salt intake. Since high salt intake is more likely to contribute to high blood pressure. In these cases, they should restrict their salt intake and try to have less-salt or no salt intake. Besides, they should avoid high salted foods like pickles, bacon, processed foods and canned foods and so on.

2. Restrict water intake

For IgA Nephropathy patients, their kidneys lose the function of excreting extra water out of the body, causing retention of water in the body. If IgA Nephropathy patients have obvious edema or swelling, they should limit their water intake so as not to burden their kidneys.

3. Proper protein intake

For IgA Nephropathy patients, their kidney function is injured, so the waste products will not be discharged by kidney. They build up in the body and cause poisoning. 4. Ingest low potassium and phosphorus foods

In this case, they should choose some low potassium foods and keep away from some high potassium foods like edible mushrooms, potatoes, yams, cabbages, bananas etc. In addition, you should know high phosphorus will lead to low calcium, which contributes to bone problems and make your bone easily broken. Due to this, you should eat some low phosphorus foods like bananas which you should be careful because of its high potassium, and also you can absorb enough calcium from the foods like milk and dairy products.

Besides, when IgA Nephropathy patients have the symptom of anemia, they should supplement foods which are abundant with iron. Even more, patients with IgA Nephropathy should avoid spicy foods, seafood, beef, mutton, wine, seasoning or other stimulating foods.
